  •  How things change in a dozen years..... (0+ / 0-)

I attended Super Bowl XXXVI in NOLA - bought an upper level goal line ticket for $350 on Bourbon Street at noon on gameday (they were $400 at face). There was an atypical lack of interest in that game (at least with regard to secondary market ticket prices), in part due to being post 9/11 and the fact that it wasn't expected to be much of a game. I had no real rooting interest (Bear fan by trade) but was hoping to see a good game. Much to my delight, it was a really good one :-)  Even then we had no idea Brady was going to turn out to be the QB he became.

That game seems so far removed from what we perceive now - the Pats as football's "Death Star" - but I will always remember that day as being very unique as a fan of the game. Ranks right up there with Super Bowl XXV in Tampa, which I also attended, as being one of my favorite football experiences.

This year I will root for what I always do whenever the Bears aren't playing - the first overtime Super Bowl. It's good to see the Super Bowl back in NOLA too - the best Super Bowl site there is bar none. The NFL should have the Super Bowl in NOLA as a permanent thing.
