    and these, as well:

    . . .

According to reports, Nancy Lanza was a so-called 'prepper', a part of the survivalist movement which urges individuals to prepare for the breakdown of society by training with weapons and hoarding food and other supplies.

“She prepared for the worst,” her sister-in-law Marsha Lanza told the Chicago Sun-Times.

    . . .

Marsha Lanza described Nancy as 'self-reliant' and said she repeatedly talked about her preparations for the economic and social meltdown.

    . . .

Police have said Mrs Lanza, 52, owned five legally registered guns, three of which her son carried with him.

    .. .

Friends and family have portrayed Mrs Lanza as a paranoid ‘survivalist’ who believed the world was on the brink of violent collapse.

Despite initial reports that she was a kindergarten teacher at the school her son attacked, she had no connection with it and was described by a neighbour as ‘a stay-at-home mom’.

It doesn't sound as if she was "collecting" if guns were actually being carried.

There were also reports that she hounded Adam rather severely, perhaps as her own means of attempting to keep him out of deviating into unwanted behaviors.  Also, she apparently had disagreements with one or more school systems to the point of deciding to homeschool Adam, personally.

Yes, we'll learn even more - and certainly hear clarifications of earlier reports - as the case develops and facts are published.  It's possible that this highly intelligent kid went off the deep end for a variety of reasons, but I'm offering that most reports indicate she was a homebody and possible individualist with resources to live in such manners without material concerns, and that her reported methods of trying to keep him under some measure of "control" may have combined with those world perspectives to give Adam - i.e., a home-bound, intelligent individual with issues - fuel for a fire that was already burning within him.

"So, please stay where you are. Don't move and don't panic. Don't take off your shoes! Jobs is on the way."
