  •  I will update when pups come (8+ / 0-)

Slow going but things are starting to move along.

They are expecting a small litter of 4 or 5 pups.

There are about 50 Danes onsite at different stages of training. All the new donations since the cams went up in Sept are allowing them to plan more litters and train more dogs for service. They are planning on following the litter born in Oct on cam through its 18 months of training right to graduation. This is really an amazing opportunity to watch and learn the process.

Every morning Carlene publishes the Daily Doggie, a newsletter on what is going on that day, problems, progress, needs, funny stories and updates on service pairs. The independence these dogs provide people is amazing; from a middle school girl who now walks the mall with her friends to the law student whose service dog walked beside her wheelchair on stage at her graduation, to the veteran with PTSD and brain injuries who needs a large steady confident dog beside him so he can walk steady. There is a great story of a woman with MS whose balance dog walked her down the aisle at her wedding.

I just love what they are doing. And watching puppies makes me feel so much better on a daily basis. They are my therapy.
