  •  Video games affect one tiny tranche (0+ / 0-)

of the population, changing the individual's world view and leading to copy cat behaviors.

These individuals suffer paranoid schizophrenia. It's an organic disease, only treatable for the schiz hallucinations and voices with medication. Lifelong. Very, very difficult to diagnose in the early and middle stages.

America has approximately 50,000 PS individuals.

Worldwide the ratio is 170 per 1,000,000. You could call it rare, but that's still a lot of very damaged people.

These individuals are over-represented massively among the mass killer group. They report "irresistible" voices.

The disease is your basic Hell on earth. I pity them no matter what they do. They live in Hell.

Australia did away with assault rifles and changed storage and licensing requirements for all firearms -- all firearms -- because there is no way to identify the most of these individuals before they go into psychotic breaks.

Aussies changed everything about how their country handles weapons after a 35-victim rampage in 1996. They recognized that nothing short of a complete re-do would prevent such mentally deranged individuals from repeating this savagery. National Firearms Agreement does the job.

Video games and normal individuals ??? Arguably morally questionable, considering GTO and the like. What's good about them? But it's not a gateway to mass murders for normal people.

Video games and this group of the mentally ill, the paranoid schizophrenics ??? Fergitaboutit. Those guys start living inside their games. And then their hallucinations can take over, moving game play to acting-out behaviors with large-clip assault rifles for kicks. Odds on that was Sandy Hook Elementary.

I've literally never heard anyone argue that paranoid schizophrenics live inside the video games they used to play.

Those damn video games are a threat to our moral fiber, like how comics were during the 50s!

Instead of providing better resources and healh care services for people with paraoid schizophrenia and creating tighter gun control, let's band video games! The horror, THE HORROR!

Also what NancyK said, where's your evidence? This is exactly the type of tripe the NRA loves.

        By miles.....

PS individuals need good care, of course. But it is among the most difficult of mental illnesses to diagnose prior to a break.

50,000 PS individuals, taken together, make for a near-overwhelming motivation for strong gun control.

The unique effect of video games on these PS patients only strengthens that motivation.

Look to what Australia did in 1996.
