  •  I got "Wednesday Morning at 3 AM" (8+ / 0-)

    from the nextdoor naighbor because his father was forcing him to reduce the number of records he had.  (The father was a real prick to his children.  He was actually nice to me.)  By that time I had heard the electric version of "Sounds of Silence," so hearing the acoustic version was something of a revelation.  It became one of those albums I listened to repeatedly.  I still think some of the songs on this album are forgotten gems.  For example:

    Partly because of Simon & Garfunkel, and partly because of Peter, Paul & Mary (and then discovering the existence of Pete Seeger in high school) I developed a taste for folk music.  Of course, now their music seems irredeemably pop-ish, which is why you never hear a folk musician actually playing any of their music.
