  •  Actually it could be a variety of things. (11+ / 0-)

Sex, "dominance" (I hesitate to even list that because there are so many myths about it), play, or excitement (at like, seeing a squirrel or a car drive by).

I like to think I'm pretty open but about 20 years ago when my female dog humped another dogs head my first thought was "OMG! She's gay". (Not that theres anything wrong with that) Silly bean.

I train dogs and board my clients dogs. We have humpalooza's here on a regular basis. Two or three dogs in a row humping. All are neutered, all are playing or imitating behavior. Silly beans.

And as for silly reasons for getting rid of a dog. Not matching the new furniture is the number one given reason. So being gay, though with all my work in shelters I've never heard that one, doesn't seem so bad.

I mean people kick their kids out of the house for being gay, but I don't think they ever do it for not matching the new furniture.

It's a shame the shelter workers didn't have the wherewithall to educate this guy but to be fair if their shelter is like ours they are euthanizing 400 dogs each and every week simply for being unwanted and are, to say the least, overwhelmed.
