  •  Oh, some of us use crucifixes, icons, incense, (9+ / 0-)

and honest-to-God wine at Communion. Some of us even genuflect (though a bow is more Anglican as it is part of the very ancient Sarum Rite). But I can tell you this: with a woman at the head of our church, and having both a lesbian AND gay bishop (Gene retired, but he's still in the House of Bishops), I doubt very much if the Episcopal Church has killed anyone lately. Mostly, we raise people up in the name of radical inclusivity and welcome.

But the Church knows who my kindergarten teacher was. They probably got a chuckle out of it: her husband was an Episcopal Priest.

if you're going to use wine for a communion, it would be best to use 'honest to god' wine, and not the fake stuff.

'Church" was at people's homes, on a rotating basis.  Communion would be home baked bread and a gallon of local wine, all passed around the circle.

Yes, there were some 'Hippie" influences there.

When that minister retired and a more 'traditional' one came in, my folks stopped entirely.  They were in it more for community than anything else, which was something I have observed in many people going to church.
