      But the car manufacturers didn't want to install them due to the cost.

      Hey they save lives and decrease injury, like airbags do.  Americans won on that and we are a big car culture. But shhhhhhhh let's not talk about cars since we don't have a right to own or drive a car. Guns are so very very special.

      and a helmet whenever I ride a motorcycle.

      I don't think that either should be mandatory by law.
