    for all the Teahadist paranoia about it, Obamacare was the biggest corporate giveaway in US history. Mandating the purchase of expensive private goods by all citizens, no excuses accepted? The corporations are loving it, and laughing all the way to the bank. They should be: the same person wrote it as wrote Romneycare, after all, and it is essentially the policy "solution" the Heritage Foundation proposed back in the 1990s in response to Hillarycare.

    Obama may be the most progressive President who's been seen in America in generations. But he's no progressive, on this or many another issue - his image as a "liberal" is simply a mark of how far to the right US politics has galloped.

    Here in Australia, he'd be right at home in the conservative Coalition - maybe he'd be on the RW fringe of the Labor Unity (centre-right) faction of the ALP. But in America, he's a "liberal" and a "progressive" to his supporters, and a "socialist" or "Marxist" to his detractors. Go figure.
