This is a tragic news story, but this diary is ridiculous.  Bortz said something a year and a half ago and that means this man's death is on his head?  There's no evidence so far that shows any connection to Bortz.

    This is just silly.

Radio talk jocks have an impact on their listeners. If you call for littering the street with urban thugs, expect that when the chickens come home to roost, folks will be looking in your barn.

Take a listen sometime to the likes of Limbaugh, or the particularly lying hate filled Mark Levin.  It's a cancer on our society that's destroying us from the inside out.  I don't know if it's because the money is good or if these people really feel this way, but it's some scary stuff, day in and day out.  And my rightwing sister and her extremely rightwing boyfriend, whom I live with for now, eat it up daily.  They don't even know the truth anymore.  There's no ability to reason anymore; just lock step agreement.  It's uncanny and scary as hell.

    •  This is 25 years in the making..... (0+ / 0-)

The quote from Boortz above just distills it to its essence.

Limbaugh, Levin, Malkin, Ingraham, Hannity, O'Reily, Beck, and a whole bunch of lesser-known "talkers" say the same thing every single day.  But that quote is spot on.

        spews fear, fear, fear non-stop.

Be AFRAID.  THEY are out to get YOU.  Don't just think you can lock the door and call the police.  Government can't protect you.  Government is on the side of the takers.  You need GUNS and lots of them  You need to be able to take matters into you own hands and defend yourself.

Marauding bands of thugs and going to break down  your door and terrorize you - take your stuff.  Three, four or five armed thugs....So what if you don't actually know anyone this has happened to and if there hasn't been a homicide in your city in five years? (as was the case in Lilburn, Ga).  That doesn't matter.  Someone heard that it happened to someone, somewhere.  That means it can happen to YOU.  You need to start being afraid RIGHT NOW.

These people get this mixed in with "it's all the liberals' fault" 24/7/365.  It is no surprise people get trigger happy.  Mr. Sailors should go to jail.  But if I were him I'd also I'd look into suing whoever he's been listening to.
