to put ending the drug war into the solutions for ending the gun violence...

I only advocate legalization of pot - it is not addicting, rehab is a waste of $.

Decriminalization allows the government the right to mandate rehab and pay for it.  Portugal did this quite some time ago when the country was having huge drug crime. Greenwald did an eval, '09 IIRC. Huge improvement.

    •  I agree 100% about pot (0+ / 0-)

Synthetic drugs are devastating to the users and those around them.  I know plenty of people whose kids , siblings, etc. got clean and it was all after arrests.  Not everyone who was arrested cleaned up but every one who is now clean and productive had their lifestyle interrupted, and many more than just once.  I can see single users "falling through the cracks"; it's heartbreaking, but there will be no perfect solution.  But for DCF/CPS to allow children to live in these situations uninterrupted and for cops to fail to arrest is unthinkable.  Nobody's "breaking up families", they are protecting children.  If addicts wont consider treatment for the sake of their kids, they cant have custody.

Check out my conversation from "this is what a police state looks like".  I hit the nail on the head with the commentor....which resulted in a barrage of F*** u's and anger.  Typical behavior from an active user.  Sad.  I wanted to say something but it wont do any good.  They refuse to see why addiction is destructive and drugs are bad.  Which is why the state needs to intervene in some way.  Protection of the innocent.
