    Any time there is violence, someone asks, "What would drive a person to do this?"  There are always reasons.  They may not be rational, i.e., they may be symptoms or expressions of far, far over-the-edge madness... but they made sense to that person, at that time.

    That does not mean those reasons make sense to the rest of us, who are not in the head of the violent person.

    Yes, the Nazis had their reasons.  Yes, people went along with them.  No, those reasons made no sense to people who do not fear or hate.

    Ragging on Obama for calling the Holocaust "senseless violence" is basically saying, "Well, okay, it was horrific, but if you look at it in a certain way, it makes perfect sense...."

    Which leads to the question: Why would people do this...?
