    Seems to me a big chunk of our state's "economic engine" comes from creative and tech companies in the Triangle area, which thrive on quality of life (clean recreational impoundments, thank you very much, no fracking please), social tolerance (Amendment One may hurt here), quality state services, and proximity to excellent universities.

    Then a whole lot of residents at the coast derive their livelihoods from fishing, tourism, etc.--all depending on sensible stewardship of our natural environment.

    Those are major economic assets these Republicans want to trash without remorse.

    Too bad our diverse amphibians, one-of-a-kind plants (like Venus flytraps), blue crabs etc. can't vote and don't have the powerful interests representing them.
