Rednecks outnumber us by a LOT. It really sucks that hillbillies from the rural parts of the state vote en masse, but they do, and they're all idiots.

Most of these people have no real education, got knocked up too early, and are scrapping by in menial jobs with multiple kids to feed and no way out. No hope, no future, and no skills to change that seems to attract these people to Republicans. Never mind that the Republican logic doesn't ever work out; How do we expect uneducated people to understand how an economy really works, instead of merely hoping that they pick the right slogan?

more, I think, that they believe that the things they value are defended by Republicans, and threatened by Democrats.

I have redneck friends and don't venture into discussing politics with them.  I have yet to find a handle to try to demonstrate that Democratic values are human values.

the NEXT Amway/Herbalife/(pick an MLM scheme) will be the one that lets them live the champagne and caviar lifestyle with all the jet skis and bass boats they could ever want.

The message they get is "Liberal Bad Republican Good" even when they are voting against their own self interest, because that's a concept that they just can't grasp.  If the NC Lege gets rid of the personal income tax and raises sales taxes regressively to fund the state, they're going to be hurting units for anything more than the purchase of a coke and pack of smokes (or dip).

Businesses that rely on trained tech workers will soon figure out that the base of employable people is not large enough in NC and no one is going to want to relocate here, if the air/water/land is fouled and the social atmosphere repressive.  Those businesses will move to an economic climate more suitable for recruitment and growth, leaving the NC republicans to look at the Laffer Curves on their napkins at the diner and wonder where the fuck they went wrong.
