The percentage of citizens who have moved across state lines has dropped by half since 1990. Wages have remained stagnant whiles costs have sky rocketed and the credit ratings of most Americans has plummeted making mobility not just more difficult, but impossible if one can't easily find a new rental residence or purchase a home due to poor credit.

America is still much more mobile than the EU and other "1st world" countries, but the with a tanking/tanked economy labor mobility has dropped precipitously.
