Party Affiliation: Massachusetts has a modified closed primary, meaning individuals who meet the following criteria can participate in the primary:
       - You must be registered to vote.
       - You must be enrolled as a Democrat or Republican; OR
       - Are listed as Unenrolled (formerly known as ‘Independent’)
       - The unenrolled may choose either a republican or democrat ballot at the polling place
If Republicans wanted to vote in the Dem primary they'd need to switch to at least indy no later than 20 days before the primary.

It's very unlikely we'll see an exodus of GOPers to the Dem primary in any real numbers.  If it's an extremely close race maybe GOPers turned Dem could make a difference but its unlikely enough voters care enough to switch parties just to screw with the other side.
