I just finished up a discussion with my neighbor regarding women in the military. It was all about "rape" and combat readiness and the "what if". If a female soldier claims rape tomorrow it is somehow different from yesterday because all their magic lady parts are now "valid" at the the front line. Everything about female soldiers and the fact that they already serve in front line roles goes out the window. "They might claim rape" and take a front line soldier out of duty? They might do this or that blah blah blah. How is what these women did before suddenly affected by allowing them the honor of official front line duty status?

Somehow now they can be raped more? They can accuse their superiors of rape more? How does acknowledging their effort in the endless war and deploying them into war zones they are already in change anything? Watching the face of a war veteran constantly shift and see him skulk away after a constant barrage of why, why, why was not a pretty thing to see. I can only hope he meant what he said as he walked away..."you've made me look at things differently and I need to think about our conversation"

Men with religious beliefs have killed more people than any god that they have created...
