  •  PETA came out in favor of horse slaughter (0+ / 0-)

houses to be re-opened in the USA, so I suppose this initiative has some pretty broad-based support out there . . ..

    •  peta is a sh*t organization that exploits (1+ / 0-)

      •  Huh? That actually was a really (0+ / 0-)

brave stand on their part - considering that the alternatives (the horses starving to death, which is a worse fate than being slaughtered or sent to Mexico to be slaughtered under much crueler, less regulated conditions) were both worse.

        here's a bit more information

against that background, once the horse(s) has been slaughtered, why waste it when it can be part of a perfectly cromulent fast food hamburger?

        •  we are not debating the slaughtering of horses for (0+ / 0-)

food - we are talking about product labelling and unknown, untested products in what you assume to be safe.

and, as i just told pirogue, i'll diary about peta in a few days.  it's time again to expose that organization for it's deceptive and (imho) fraudulent practices.

        •  Consider that they were responsible (0+ / 0-)

for the push that shut down horse slaughter and it took a horrible period as described in my comment above, to change their minds. Meanwhile they put a lot of horse breeders out of business.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

that's an awfully big accusation to make without presenting any evidence to back it up. I support PETA. Please tell me why I am being duped, or even worse, why I am morally wrong to do so.

explanation - will try for the weekend.

i have had personal experience dealing with those who allegedly were "protecting" animals when it was really about raising money for peta.

i'll send you a km headsup when the diary is going up. there is nothing better i'd like than to have you join me in supporting organizations that actually focus on making lives better for animals - which, btw, isn't peta!
