  •  That legal defense fund almost certainly means (22+ / 0-)

that Walker is a target of this investigation, as being investigated (or being prosecuted) is why he can have such a fund to begin with.
That is the main fact on the table now since the prosecutors can't talk, and nothing Walker says can be taken at face value.

The process is too slow foe my liking, but so long as they get to him before the 2014 campaign, it'll be alright.

    •  The other legal reason for the legal (19+ / 0-)

defense fund is that his aides were involved with him.

He's spending a whole lot of money for a man who continues to boast about being an Eagle Scout, son of a preacher, and pure as the driven snow.

I avoid speculating in diaries, but I do in the comments since I feel more free to do so here.  So, I'll engage in some speculation now.

I have been pretty dismayed that every single case has been plea bargained - even when there's plenty of evidence for a trial, particularly involving those like Kelly Reindfleisch who won't cooperate.   I wanted open trials and plenty of revelations.

I may have been wrong in wanting that because prosecutors might have had to reveal all the evidence they have accumulated.  That might be a big mistake when going after someone as heavily connected, financed, and big as Scott Walker.

Maybe they're just keeping their cards close to their chest so nobody gets a peek.  They'll need an iron-clad, open and shut case to take down the "king" when lawyers will be parachuting in to get him off the hook and they'll have oceans of money to pay for it.  And they only get to do it once.

So, let them take their time and bring the best case they can.

Just my latest thoughts and speculation.

It really does look like they're being very careful, and that they're going after the big fish(face).

        •  It makes me fantasize about even bigger fish (5+ / 0-)

than Walker.  More and more, the WISGOP and their branch of the national party reminds me of a crime syndicate!

about troublemakers in crowds that had children.

Walker said that was part of their "discussion"....I would like to hear him discuss this.  No doubt his lawyers told him to zip it...Where is our media?

For those of you that do not remember, Walker is on tape saying that he discussed putting thugs in crowds

            •  And don't forget about the reason he didn't (4+ / 0-)

do it.  He didn't put goons in the crowds to start trouble ONLY because he thought the public would demand that he sit down with unions and protest leaders and compromise on Act 10.  He didn't want to discuss it with anyone.
