    the FTC. That's the only thing to do, but every complaint is probably counted as a couple thousand abuses, since very few people will bother to file a complaint.

      From what I have heard and read it is the thing to do because every bit of information helps them track things, so even if I don't have a company name or number I just give as much information as I can.

      It is frustrating because when the Do Not Call Registry first went into effect about 10 years ago it resulted in a HUGE decrease in telemarketing calls.  Now, over the past couple of years they have grown again.

      The vast majority I am sure are scams but I think there needs to be a bigger effort to enforce things -- maybe even start considering criminal prosecutions.

        you can't talk at the moment and ask for a number so that you can call them later. Most telemarketers will hang up and delete you from the list. If they do give you a call back number add that to the complaint as the number shown on your caller ID is most likely bogus (another violation).

        That's worked for me a few times. But not with Rachel. She enjoys tormenting people.
