way.  I can't believe that Spain had marriage equality before France.

Then they came for me - and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.

The House of Commons is due to work on the issue next week.

Something called the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill is due to have its second reading on Tuesday. This is the stage where the principle of proposed legislation is debated. It is a government measure, but will be dealt with on a free vote without the party whips trying to enforce a party line.

Some Conservatives are very unhappy, but the legislation is likely to pass as it has the support of David Cameron and most Liberal Democrat and Labour MPs. Given the balance of forces in the current House, not many Tory supporters are required to support the bill for it to have a majority.

There is no man alive who is sufficiently good to rule the life of the man next door to him. Sir Rhys Hopkin Morris, M.P.
