    I am probably on the other side of the issue than the parent quote but I to, find this startling. The idea that even among politically active people here, that people are more interested in a "gay dog"  than the conflicts costing the lives of many thousands annually is disturbing.

    Beyond that the idea you would need to be Arabic of Jewish (which are not mutually exclusive) to have a valid opinion, impact or to discuss these issues makes no sense.  Morality knows no national, ethnic or cultural boarders.

    To bring the topic back to the original point point. I really do not think these acts of violence could be considered "brutal". While the use of any violence against peaceful protesters is unfortunate. The term brutal is one of the more extreme words available. Compared to the variety of terrible actions people have taken over the years, pepper spray and rocks seem mild.
