and make sure that they don't have to pay any of the downside.

That's the primary operating principle of the oil and gas industry.

And the state governments are bought off to let them do it.

A liveable enviroment? La, la - I'll worry about that tomorrow...

Surprise, we live in a Left-Of-Center Nation! Act accordingly.

greedy and unscruoulous had all the clean energy. I am such a commie I would love to see clean energy owned by the people, kind of a giant metro utility like some of my favorite cities do.

seem to have any policies to encourage public power over investor-owned electric utilities.

Now is the time for the establishment of a new animal that is a publicly-owned renewable electrical generating authority....sort of a New York Power Authority that is in business to generate electricity from renewable resources....that could use public bonding authority to finance generating projects.

There is a plain truth, though....and that is sometimes public power utilities don't act any better on their environmental management responsibilities than investor owned electric utilities.

can be mind numbing. There are well run ones out there and we would need to clone the very best. I would like see investment in renewables and when the grid is rebuilt use that as the stepping stone to setting up effective publically owned power districts thru-out the country.
