  •  An interesting analogy . . . (4+ / 0-)

would be the switch from silent films to talkies.

During the silent film era, the major stars could almost do anything and people watched them intently and followed in the media because they were the ones to watch.  Much like NRA was before December.

The events of December, were like the introduction of Talkies. Some stars, couldn't work in the Talkies for many reason. New Stars emerged, because they could work in the new environment and knew how to engage the audience.

The NRA at the moment, is like the  silent film star who is unable to change their acting methods to work in the Talkies era. Eventually they will be forgotten.

I know it is probably a trivial analogy, apologies if it is.

    •  I don't think it's trivial. (5+ / 0-)

The fact of the matter is the NRA never did anything but preach to the choir. That's all they needed to be successful with their agenda of keeping gun manufacturers profitable.

Now with growing gun violence and mass killings, many Americans are turned off to unlimited gun ownership. Wayne LaPierre is unable to talk sensibly about the issues and comes across as a bad actor.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
      and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

      •  But, that choir is a majority of the House ... (0+ / 0-)

... and likely even a majority of the US Senate. Look at the Red state and district maps. And consider that a lot of Democrats in those states - Hi, there, Harry! - will feel pressure to maintain those Second Amendment freedoms!

2014 IS COMING. Build up the Senate. Win back the House : 17 seats. Plus!
