  •  I'm a collector of knitting needles, (7+ / 0-)

which can be used as weapons- I can't get them on a plane in a carryon.  Some are rare, some irreplaceable, most are just fun to use.

I cannot in my wildest dreams imagine saying "You'll get them when you take them from my cold, dead hands".  The collector argument loses me there.  The self-defense argument is lost when reality intervenes.  Good gun owners being the best defense loses to every story about unarmed bystanders taking down a shooter who's got to reload before he can kill more innocents.  Mental health screenings lose when the shooter seems pretty normal until the massacre.  Needing to fight off urban(black) gangs loses some punch when your mass murderers are overwhelmingly white.

There is no reason for civilians to own assault-type weapons, large clips or magazines, or handguns.  None.  It's a game scared people play, all the arguments are hollow.

If you're so scared of the world you can't live in it without being a weapon of mass destruction you've just told me you're not stable enough to trust with weapons.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.
