    Apparently, and I'm going to trust the data at face value, Cruz outperformed Romney in the 23rd. I haven't broken out the numbers myself, but he won by 6 points whereas Romney only won by about 3 or 4.

    If that holds true across the border district (which I imagine it does), that means that in order for Sadler to have outperformed Obama overall, he had to outperform in the traditionally Democratic East Texas districts which were his "home base" by more than we thought.

      Here are a few counties with margins for Romney and Cruz, respectively:

      Bowie 42/29
      Marion 29/19
      Rusk 51/27
      Newton 41/27
      Panola 56/38

      Those are some of the bigger gaps I found in just a quick perusal, but there are gaps to some degree or another in pretty much every E. Texas county, as well as the used-to-be Democratic parts of W. Texas.

          Those are margins. Nevermind.

          Those are huge marginal differences for those counties, though.
