    was wiped out by his successor - in fact, several members were alive and well when Henry VII took over.

      but his father, brothers (except for Edward the King who got to live out his life), and some others all dead.

      But yes, sisters, their husbands and off-spring, as well as Clarence's children and Edward's daughters were all alive.

      But I was primarily thinking in making that statement that he grew up in war, had to leave the country when his father and oldest brother were killed by Lancastrians, later saw in-laws and Clarence die, took part in the death of many Lancastrian cousins, etc.

      This sort of thing is just the way it was for his times. Killing the nephews seems horrible to us but frankly it was a life and death issue for Richard himself.
