    and was so dissolute he routinely slept with the wives of his friends and aides, and when he was done with one brief lover would hand her off to his friends. but he won every battle, and clearly had an innate gift for leadership. henry vi, of course, suffered from devastating mental illness, and never was suited for any kind of leadership, and probably would have been best off as some sort of monk.
