for that reason.  I know too many veterans decorated for combat reasons and it bothers me when this becomes part of the story, or worse, an excuse - yes Dykes served 4 yrs in VN - but would that be an excuse for all of the behavior described?
We don't pay enough attention to our vets, but there is no evidence of any ptsd or untreated issues.  And there are many proud soldiers suffering from the left-overs of war who never harm others.

Women are 51% of the population yet are represented in congress by barely 17%! Until our representation reflects the population, we risk sliding backwards .....

Apparently in California and Japan, per CNN.

Not every person in the military between 1959 and 1975 was in Vietnam.  We had a lot of military in a lot of places, some of them very far from Southeast Asia.

Blaming "Vietnam" and "PTSD" makes it very easy to ignore the closer, more recent, homegrown reasons for the kind of behavior Dykes exhibited.

History should teach humility and prudence, but America doesn't seem to learn. I've never seen a virgin who loses her innocence so often. -- Gordon Wood
