It's not hard to look up a local florist and place an order there versus the national services. All they are doing is placing the order with the local florist anyway. And, unless they get an avalanche of complaints about a particular florist, it's not like they really vet or qualify the florists.

as long as I can get my convenience.

Many local restaurants and delis around here have setup online ordering (usually through 3rd party services that cater to local businesses) so I while working at my desk I can just order a sandwich, and then get up and just go pick it up.

Heck, thanks to those services, I found a few places I didn't even know existed.

I never really have a reason to order flowers, but if I did, if I could get online ordering and delivery for a local address, I wouldn't go to a chain.

I think a lot of the advantages big-name and big-chain stores have had in the late 90's and early 00's have started to wear off. They still have their place for bigger orders and long-distance orders, but they seem less relevant in the smaller scale.

Smaller businesses can easily get websites and online orderings, you can now swipe credit/debit cards via cell phones.
