    Your hawthorns reminded me of something I saw in Ft. Lauderdale.  I'd only been to Florida once before, on a business trip, so when I took a week of vacation to visit an old friend in Ft. Lauderdale, it was my first real exposure to the state.

    There are many wonderful aspects to the ecosystem of south Florida...but what caught my attention in the city itself was that tropical hibiscus plants had been trained into hedgerows.  They were gorgeous...and blooming here and there, even in February.

    To make the argument that the media has a left- or right-wing, or a liberal or a conservative bias, is like asking if the problem with Al-Qaeda is do they use too much oil in their hummus. Al Franken
