  •  WooHoo! Just in time for 2014! So now we see (6+ / 0-)

who walks away with the title of "Republican Party" and who gets left to choose among the "Conservative" movements-- Libertarians? Constitutionalists?

That's what it is going to come down to eventually. Maybe not for 2014 exactly, but eventually: one group will get to retain the name "Republican", with the built-in brand name and political infrastructure that comes with it (though it will be a tarnished, weakened brand) and the ones that get kicked out will have to either create a whole new home for themselves, or latch onto (and try to build up) one of the current "also-rans" like the Libertarians.

Oddly, the ones probably closest to the Establishment GOP (at least to my eyes) are the ones with the safest place to land in-- the Libertarians. But the Republican brand name carries such historical weight I don't see them giving it up.

The Constitutionalists, on the other hand, are a good place for the Evangelicals to go to, but again the title "Republican Party" brings them such historical gravitas they won't walk away without a fight too.

This is going to be damned interesting.
