  •  Too broad a grant of immunity, and it's even worse (9+ / 0-)

    for judges.

In Tennessee, it is settled case law that a DA can willfully and knowingly lie to a grand jury to obtain an indictment, and therefore bring about the arrest and imprisonment of the defendant, the need for the defendant to shell out for a bail bond (or else rot in jail, sometimes for more than 18 months with no public defender) -- WITH COMPLETE IMPUNITY.

After which their idiot constituents elect them again.

Our legal system is in so many ways a terrible disgrace, completely loaded against anyone who can't afford to pay at least 100k for legal fees, and our schools and press do NOTHING to educate the public about their civil and criminal rights.

of civics and government classes needs to be looked into.

      •  Brought to you by the culture of obedience (5+ / 0-)

-- teachers, administrators, and politicians taught to be docile, tractable, cooperative, and incurious, encouraged by the same people who fund anti-global-warming campaigns. Heavens, if we dared use civics class to teach our children how little acquiescence they owe the police, the means of seeking redress in state and federal courts and the legal reasons for seeking such redress, the history of expansions and impingments on our Fourth Amendment rights -- wouldn't THAT cause a shitstorm????

That's the kind of thing our radical DFH teachers taught us in high school during the Vietnam War -- including sponsoring after-school speakers who advocated dodging the draft!

Good lord, now you'd have an armed parade of Situzins blockading the doors of the schools.
