    If that's true, then Keystone doesn't make much difference at all, save for a few American jobs and a quicker, cheaper way to get oil to China.

      the Gulf Coast for shipment to Europe. The Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline proposed to go across British Columbia will bring the crude to Kitmat from there to be exported by super tanker to China. Blocking Keystone XL pipeline sends a message to investors.

        Why should the Chinese have all the fun?

        FWIW - I always use the Chinese because they are the fastest growing group of auto buyers and the world's largest car market -- at about 40% more cars sold annually than the United States.  At some point, the Chinese drive all oil discussions.

        With specific regard to Keystone, the pipeline doesn't seem to make much difference to anything but efficiency and the chance for a few Americans to get work.

        Absent something done on a more global scale -- as in CO2 reduction agreements -- that oil will be extracted and it will be shipped.  All Keystone will affect is convenience.

      or existing, to deliver product from the tar sands.
