  •  Las Vegas... (none)
Isn't that bad...unless you go looking for it. I'm sure Chicago and all the other bad cities have their seedy sections. We lived/worked in DC for 28 years and managed to maintian a modicum of sanity. I live about 100 miles from Vegas and go there for the airport and sometime shopping (the only big store where we live is wal-mart and our airport is teensy)

As an aside...there are tons of things to do outside of the city. As a matter of fact, anyone who wants to make an overnight pitstop on there way to Vegas is more than welcome to stay with us. We live in the Mohave desert area of Arizona right where California, Arizona and Nevada come together.

Summers here are HOT but dry and to me, the June temps in Vegas would be pretty moderate. (last year it hit 126f in my backyard) Believe me, 100-110 degrees with 10-20% humidity is LOTS better than 90's temp with high humidity.

We have some historical mining cities here, a working gold mine that you can tour (or spend the night in), wild burros walking the streets of old mining towns, gunfights put on by the locals to raise money for shriners childrens hospitals. Christmas tree pass, that has some of the only free flowing water in the middle of the desert, Lake Mohave, Lake Mead, Lake Havasu, Hoover Dam, I could go on.

As an aside, Laughlin, NV is about 20-25 miles from us with all its casinos and convention facilities and is considerably less expensive than Vegas but...piss poor transportation to the city...arrive in Vegas and drive an hour to Laughlin.

Again, anyone interested in stoppng by for a day, night or more is more than welcome to stay in the desert with us.
