    a real nuisance. What they don't want is to be obligated, to feel the sense of owing someone else anything at all. They're self-centered. If there's nobody willing to accept a favor, there's no opportunity for those who want to give.
    People who don't want to be a burden aim to deprive others of caring and sharing. Consequently, they force other people to lie in the effort to persuade them that no, they're not a burden at all. Believe me, when I tell you that lying is burdensome. And it would be so easy to resolve with an occasional "thank you" and a little recognition that the care is appreciated.
    Apparently, your sister likes to keep house. If one is going to keep a house, it makes sense that it be occupied by as many people as can comfortably fit in it.

    Privacy, btw, is not related to secrecy or isolation. Privacy is the result of respect -- looking to see if one should have looked in the first place and, if not, looking away so as not to infringe on a person's space. It's how privacy is maintained on a crowded subway train.
