    ... the past couple popes have been purging the "liberal" wing of the Curia (college of Cardinals, whose members under age 75 will elect the next pope).  So I'd suspect you've got about a hundred years before you'll see any significant change for the better in RC policy.

      Change can be fast when is time.  A hundred years is really a long time in human history now.  The church can purge liberals in the curia but it can't do away with them as it might like.  In the end the church needs liberals too.

        They've acknowledged that maybe Galileo was right, after how many years?

        Perhaps by the time we have probes at some of the nearer stars we'll see the RCC's position on this change. Say, 2600 AD or so.
