    The total membership is currently 650. The size of the House has varied over time (it was as high as 707 in the 1918-22 Parliament, before 26 Irish counties left the United Kingdom).

    We were going to reduce the House to 600 members in the next Parliament from 2015, but the redistribution is being postponed until 2018. The reduction may never take effect, if the next Parliament does not have a Conservative majority.
