    This discovery is also discussed on Think Progress and in the comment section it is noted that the discovery is not sequestration but the precursor.  This is the reaction:

    CO2(aq) + H2O(l) = H2CO3(aq) = H+(aq) + HCO3-(aq)

    The nickel nano particles accelerate the step that makes H2CO3, but to sequester you must go further, and it's suggested there the most likely candidates are olivine (Mg2SiO4), enstatite (MgSiO3) or wollastonite (CaSiO3) for example:

    Mg2SiO4 + H2CO3 = SiO2 + MgCO3

    From above, id add Fayalite Fe2SiO4 is also a candidate.  Note also that olivine is probably the family and Mg2SiO4 is Forsterite.
