    I have had a few experiences where men intruded into my space with assumptions that I must be looking for male companionship.

    Once, in Brazil, the assumption was that I was a prostitute. I mean, geez, why else would a woman be alone?! (That aggressive exchange ended with me giving him an upper cut as I stood up and knocking him out of the chair he so rudely occupied at my table.)

      I think my funniest experiences were in France, having the hotel concierge make a reservation for one at a 2-3 star restaurant, and showing up there, alone. The maitre d's just could not wrap their heads around that, and I think most of the other diners felt sorry for me. HaHa!
