    regardless of gender

It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman traveling alone is not nearly as safe as traveling with someone or several someones

It's also imo a lot more fun

    •  Well Duhban, it depends on how you are bent. (2+ / 0-)

some people do prefer to travel in groups or packs.  Some of us do not.

Lots of personality factors come into play. And then again, there are scheduling issues.

People you might prefer to travel with, may be unavailable. Then what? Do you cancel or only go if anyone can go with you--even if you don't particularly like to room with or travel with that person?

      •  all true and I'm not saying don't travel (0+ / 0-)

I used to take many precautions too. I still do. But I have been the unfortunate recipient of a set up. ---"Sure a group of us will go, hmmmm--great" Well they were going to be there, but it's just me....

Ah to be young and stupid again.

And people ask, "Why would you go off alone with that guy?"

Well that wasn't the original plan and I didn't learn of the alternative til we were setting up tents.

And then there are just circumstances beyond one's control too, nothing sinister about it. Just how things work out. And there you are.

Best laid plans and all that.
