  •  The USPS has done a terrible job of publicizing (9+ / 0-)

the fix into which Congress put it, and the unique problem it is facing.  The ads which I saw in my market over the past year (central Ohio) were just not clear.  A HUGE part of the problem is that they didn't come out and say:

"Congress passed a law that mandated that the post office, within 10 years, amass enough money in the bank to fund 75 years of retirement benefits.  USPS is the only government program that was forced to do this--- and if Congress were to pass a law that mandated that private companies do this same thing, businesses would be screaming about how impossible that is.  Now our country is facing the possibility that something ordered by our Constitution, will be driven out of existence through Congress's unfair and bad lawmaking."

That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10
