    I try to be careful to avoid some of the very phrases you list.  I agree with all of your points, except possibly #9.  I'm not sure it really invokes the stereotypes you suggest.

      "Work Hard And Play By The Rules"is a perfectly good progressive counterpoint to the "Get Rich Quick By Gaming The System" practiced by the owners of the conservative faction.

        to address precisely this dilemma of phrasing and choice of words. The article is definitely a good start at getting all of us to simply think about what we say. Very often the context, if properly constructed, eliminates the dubiousness of the actual term or phrase.

        Saying what you mean and meaning what you say is not a bad combination after all.
