  •  i agree with you - this is deliberate and an (38+ / 0-)

attempt to destroy the post office in favor of private carriers.

i ONLY use the u.s.p.s. for all my mailed and shipped items. it is a point of principle for me - when it is gone, then we are limited in our ability to communicate JUST as the web is slowly being turned into a system where we will have to "pay to play" (photo services offer limited "free" storage with pay services for more storage, etc).

i'm not against business, i just worry that soon only those with money will have access to communication systems.

our media - our airways are no longer available due to digital limitations in transmissions and the destruction of the analog system (bounce and radio waves) - now without cable or satillite are severely limited in access to "free" news and programming, radio stations are going digitally controlled by super companies as local broadcasting diminishes - we are being driven to limited sources of information.

then, kill off the post office where one can still communicate cheaply, and we are isolated and herded into mass distribution by a few powerful sources.

your question - why are americans not protesting?  well, maybe it's time to start that movement - that bombarding of congress demanding to know WHY the government is allowing this destruction of an american icon - an american ideal - an american construction: the national postal service!

i don't think england will eliminate their "post" - nor any other country - why the united states?  why now?  we are under a severe threat by those who would manipulate government for their own gain - their names are Republican!

    •  I was looking today at another possibility. (1+ / 0-)

I was reviewing the real estate owned by the USPS and what it must be worth.

The immensity of land that would become available and the locations of this real estate is awe inspiring.

I think this may be something to consider when we try to understand what is behind these events.

Senator Sanders will be receiving a letter from me.

      •  wow - never thought about that - and the "profits" (0+ / 0-)

to be made when that real estate is put up for bid.

looking to the left when the right hand is frantically waving and screaming "LOOK OVER HERE!" is what we need to be doing now!

It's unfortunate when politicians and the media all fall for that tactic.

Sharon Angle and Christine O'Donnell shenanigans took everyone's eyes off the 2010 mid term elections and Republicans were able to sweep state and House elections during a census year.

          Democrats do this as well.

Diversion tactics work against the unprepared and uninformed.
