  •  House oversight committee - D. Issa... (1+ / 0-)

Can someone check his portfolio and see how much of FedEx and UPS stock Issa (and other members of his committee) own?

Can someone follow up on Issa's plan to cluster mailboxes so that mail delivery doesn't come to our houses/personal mailboxes? His suggestion was mentioned on NPR this AM.

Can someone follow up to see how involved UPS union was in making the onerous requirement for the USPS retirement fund that is at the root of their financial difficulties?

And can someone who knows how to calculate these things, figure out how much the UPS and FedEx rates would rise if they were not using the USPS for final delivery of packages, etc., in rural areas and small towns?

I am sure these can be figured out, but I don't know how to do it, and have to go to an appointment now.

    •  They aren't cutting package service (0+ / 0-)

Packages will still be delivered 6 days a week. They are cutting the delivery of first class letters, mailers, and bulk mail to 5 days a week.

Package delivery is the area in which the USPS competes with UPS and FedEX. Letter delivery is pretty much dominated by the USPS.

    •  Express Mail, too (0+ / 0-)

Express mail service will remain 6 days a week. So if you have documents that REALLY need to get there, the USPS remains as viable an option as UPS or FedEX.

They are only cutting back service in the area where they don't compete with UPS or FedEX.
