  •  twigg - i know this sounds strange, but has she (13+ / 0-)

tried acupuncture?  i have arthritis in my neck and at times the pain is so bad that i've almost driven into the freeway sidewall on the freeway twisting my neck trying to shake loose the pain.

acupuncture has been amazing - i stopped going to the chiropractor and have gotten amazing relief!  i'm still not 100%  - but it is making a difference!

it can't hurt and it might be an alternative to surgery - or, at the least, delay it.

hugs to limeyswife - she has my heartfelt sympathy and understanding!

    •  oh, my acupuncture is through kaiser (8+ / 0-)

permanente - they have a new department dedicated to using acupuncture to alleviate chronic pain.

after watching performance horses getting acupuncture (including my own sani) and seeing them stand with eyes at half mast in total relaxation and comfort, i was convinced to try it on my own back.

can't hurt!  (actually, it DOESN'T hurt!)  it feels incredible and afterward, you have to get up VERY slowly because you feel like you are floating!

        everyone does.
Acupucture did not realive my pain and I never felt like I was floating. I've not heard from the handful of other people that they felt like they were floating either.
but again glad you did...whatever works. Which is why  it would be good to have cannibis as well as insurance funded acupuncture as options

depending on the individual.  i could never be a candidate for cannibis - allergies, unfortunately.

i've tried different therapies and different providers - sometimes a different provider does a different technique that works better than others.  acupuncture has more than one - needle length and placement are different.  i've gotten different results with different techniques.

the same goes with chiropractors and doctors, sometimes, the different one will give different relief.

i think the important thing is not to give up until you find what works - i'm glad that cannibus works for so many and truly believe it should be legalized!

Treatment is Scenar therapy. It is neurological biofeedback.
It is hard to explain, but this site will explain it.
        www.invet.net.
I hurt my back at work. Went thru the comp nightmare for 5 yrs before I had a Nucleoplasty.
Worked well on disc pain, but the nerve damage was permanent.
I still have residual pain and need meds.
I am unable to take the 24 hr timed release, so I too look like Kojak from the suckers.
My friend told me about this but couldn't explain it.
She said it was like a massage and a Tens unit combined.
Seemed fishy, but I tried it.
I went to the treatment with a closed mind on a high pain day.
Walked out thinking I had a nice massage.
I woke up the next morning and the nerve pain was GONE!
        Not even a twinge.
I went from taking 11 medication to just 4.
        This is an amazing treatment.
Work comp even bought me my own device.
Hopefully your wife could find someone that  does this treatment.
        I got my life back.
Chronic pain ruins so many lives.
        Good luck.

Gitmo is a Concentration Camp. Not a Detention Center. Torture happens at Concentration Camps. Torture happens at Gitmo. How much further will US values fall? Where is YOUR outrage at what the United States does in OUR names?
