    If the bookstore didn't have what I wanted, they would be happy to order it for me...and then I would have to wait a week and make another trip to the store. Or I could order it directly from Amazon, get it in 2 days, and pay a few bucks less because Amazon makes it up in volume.

      sell without paying sales taxes.

      Now, Amazon is reaching agreements with many states to collect and remit sales tax (as it should, I think) and the price differences are a bit less than before.

      But it is too late for many brick and mortar stores which have already closed.  Just as one of the advantage gaps is being closed, they aren't here any more.
