In my college days, I went down to the Boat Basin in Ocala, in the mid-80's.  We, four or five of us, went to go boating, but when we got there we noticed it was choked with debris, refuse, diapers, broken beer bottles, ciggy packs, you name it, it was a low-level toxic waste site!

Well, my friend Mikey ("Trash Compactorrrr!"  ...and then he would jump on you... I digress...) had several large lawn and leaf bags in his suburban, so the four or five of us went down in there and cleaned up every diaper, can, bottle, and ciggy pack.  It took hours, until near sunset, but we got it done.

Well sir, I went back there three years later and as you can imagine - or maybe not ...

...because the Ocala Boat Basin looked just as good as we left it.  No more ciggy packs!

The Community GOT IT!  I think that's one of my better contributions to our shared community here.  Makes me smile.

    She still looks nice.

      So congratulations on your success.

One of my longtime friends told me that he stopped littering because I bugged him about it many years ago.

We get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of trash, but that should not stop us from at least making an effort.

      •  It just actions in the same direction... (0+ / 0-)

You just keep doing the same thing.  zigging instead of zagging...
I hope there is hope in the young, and that not a single ciggy diaper is ever launched from the boat ramp again.
