    about 4 or so and he asked why the Indians always fought the cowboys, we told him because the cowboys had stolen the Indian's houses. He was 4 and autistic and land was too abstract of a concept for him to really grasp yet. Houses he understood. Later when a teacher at head start told him the cowboys were the 'good guys' he got really mad at them and insisted that was a lie! We had to go in and talk to the teacher who wanted to punish him for it. The teacher really heard it that day because there was also a child from the Seminole Reservation in my son's class, who were also not happy about the "cowboys were the good guys" thing. Now that he's a teen and we're covering history in depth, he's even more angry about how the Native Americans were/are treated than he was when he was little.
