    that straight meant "strict."

    But you know what else I think it means in our age?

    It means that your morality is based on the convenience of your situation...that you're moral when it's easy to be.  Scouts are required to be moral when it's hard to be moral...when everyone else around you is not being moral.

    I'm pretty sure you are very morally straight!

    I would hope that you are pretty obedient, too, behind the wheel of your car...otherwise, please let me know when you're on the road, so that I can avoid you!

    The "obedience" is also necessary if a Scout is to uphold the law and the major tenets of Scouting, including "leave no trace."  You need a degree of obedience to make the patrol method work as well.  We can't all be little rebels and expect camp to go smoothly!
